Ellen Degeneres did not hurt a dog!

“With all the yelping and howling in the media, you’d think Ellen hurt a dog.  SHE DIDN’T!

“You humans are wacky lot.” Bumper the Canine Laureate mused as he chomped on a bone.  “The media rabidly pursues a dog adoption fracas that wouldn’t be a fracas if a celebrity wasn’t involved,  yet rock on their heels and whistle when important issues of the day cry out for truth or at the very least impartiality.   No  wonder you humans  require so much therapy.”

All animal rescue groups are concerned about the saftey of their animals once they leave the confines of the rescue group.  We’re the ones who’ve spent countless hours and dollars nurturing these critters back to health and we want to be sure they’re safe and secure.

NO GOOD DEED EVER GETS LEFT UNPUNISHED.

In crystal clear 20/20 hindsight Ellen ought to have informed the adoption group of her intentions, and you know what?  That’s called a mistake.  Last time I checked, Ms. Degeneres is human, and you humans always make mistakes - That’s part of being human, and that’s why forgiveness is so Divine!  Dogs, on the other hand, don’t make mistakes because, well, we’re already DIVINE! WE’RE DOGS!

WE URGENTLY NEED CAPABLE, COMPETENT, ANIMAL LOVING PEOPLE TO STEP UP AND ADOPT MORE DOGS. PRONTO!

My heart goes out to Ms. DeGeneres, whom I know to be a kind, generous animal loving, wonderful human being. There is no excuse for this event to have gotten as far out of proportion as it has.  Speaking as a canine, I’m of the opinion the adoption group did more harm than good for the entire Los Angeles animal rescue community. Don’t loose sight of the BIG PICTURE Los Angeles:

A just published third quarter Los Angeles Department of Animal Services report indicates The Year-To-Date Euthanasia Rate: Cats and Dogs Combined (Jan 1 through Sept 30) is 11,665.  Let me say it another way, “ eleven thousand six hundred and sixty five animals are no longer here.”

We have one more quarter to go  and WINTER, our heaviest months,  is on the way.  Do we as Angelenos want to sit by as potentially 3,000 more animals are, um, er, what’s that nice clean sanitized word, you know! You humans use it all the time. Um, that’s it! “Put to sleep” -  by year’s end?

As a dog, I think not!

That’s it. I got to go -
